24.2 Megapixel CMOS (APS-C) Sensor
One of the key features of the EOS M5 camera is the 24.2 megapixel CMOS (APS-C) sensor for capturing large photo and video files. The images made possible by this sensor are suitable for enlargements that can be significantly trimmed. The EOS M5 sensor helps users who want to zoom in on intricate details, make Full HD movies or poster-sized prints. This is all with an ISO range of 100-25600, making possible images captured with minimum noise and maximum detail even in low light.
High Definition Video
The EOS M5 takes realistic, high quality 1080p Full HD video at 60 fps, allowing you to shoot fast-moving subjects in incredible detail – in stereo sound. Using the small MP4 file format means you can fit more video on one memory card and download and share easily. Videos shot on this camera are smooth and feature fine detail, perfect for showing on a large screen HDTV, which you can do through the included HDMI output.
The camera includes a manual movie mode, letting you adjust settings and select focus points via the touch panel LCD screen.
Tilting Touch Screen
With a 3.2 tilt-type (85 degrees up / 180 degrees down) touch screen high resolution LCD monitor, the EOS M5 lets you flexibly position your shot and view your subject more clearly.
Wireless Pairing
Arm the EOS M5 with your smartphone’s capabilities thanks to Bluetooth pairing. Power on the camera and your smart device, connect and remotely control the camera with your device — capture images and control other operations without touching the camera. Bluetooth is also useful for wirelessly sharing photos. After your first pairing, your camera can automatically connect to your phone whenever you turn the camera on.
Also connect your phone and camera via a direct Wi-Fi connection, turning your phone into a viewfinder and a device for checking and downloading previously captured images and movies.
High Speed and Performance
With the EOS M5, get continuous shooting at high speeds of up to 7.0 fps (or up to 9.0 fps with AF Lock). This allows you to snap multiple photos of a fast-moving subject, such as a split-second sports play or wildlife sneaking into the brush. Furthermore, the camera stays locked onto its target with the DIGIC 7 Image Processor with improved AF tracking performance.
Quick, Precise Autofocus
Even in low light conditions, the EOS M5 imposes virtually no focus waiting time. In other words, this is just one more way the camera can get shooting faster without holding you back. Dual Pixel CMOS AF is fast and smooth — autofocus is precise and stays locked to moving subjects for both photos and videos. Canon’s Dual Pixel technology uses 24.2 million sensors to calculate an object’s distance and where to focus the lens. You can use this advanced technology while using the electronic viewfinder or when using Live View on the rear screen. Get sharp, smooth images fast.
