The interchangeable lens camera features a chassis constructed from a combination of polycarbonate resin and high-tech carbon fibre. The result is a strong, rigid, lightweight body that weighs less than 500 grams including the battery and memory card.

Outstanding images with true-to-life colour and high contrast are delivered via an 18 megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor. This is complemented by a powerful DIGIC 4 image processor to ensure you are equipped with the capability to capture high-quality photos and Full HD videos across a wide range of scenarios. A maximum ISO6400 (expandable to 12800 for stills) ensures minimal noise in difficult lighting situations and provides better exposure alternatives to ensure you can achieve the shot you’re after. A built-in pop up flash can be utilised for in extremely poor lighting conditions to ensure your subject always remains properly exposed.

To ensure your compositions are perfect the 1200D is equipped with 9 points of autofocus, including one cross-type. This configuration combined with 3 auto focusing modes and a predictive AF option makes it easy to get razor-sharp results in a broad variety of shooting scenarios.

A maximum 1/4000 shutter speed combined with an approximate 3fps burst mode ensures candid moments and high-speed action can be captured with ease.

Two methods can be utilised for image composition. A traditional optical viewfinder offers an approximate 95% area of coverage and provides instant information regarding shutter speed, aperture, ISO, exposure compensation, autofocusing and more. Alternatively, the large 3-inch 460k-dot LCD screen can be used in live view mode for 100% approximate frame coverage during composition and vivid image playback and review. The screen also features 7 levels of brightness adjustment ensuring compatibility with a wide variety of lighting conditions.
